Abandoned Asbury Park NJ. for some reason i have always been drawn to this place. i remember when i was a child and Asbury wasnt Abandoned , my mom used to take me here to ride the rides and play the boardwalk games. As a teen i found myself drawn here for parties and to get away from it all. The town was just left to be forgotten. I used to come down here to break into the abandoned buildings to take pictures of what used to be one of the most fun places i can remember. Here are some low light shots i took of the outside of the buildings that were still here. since i took these pictures all these buildings have been either knocked down or fixed up. the town is trying to bring back the family fun spot that this used to be. these are also the photographs i gave my tattoo artist to use as a refrence for my asbury park themed tattoo on my left arm. I hope you enjoy this walk down memory lane
This used to be the old casino and convention center. of asbury park
This is the building that is doomed to never be finnished. they have since knocked it down and started building a new structure in its place only to have construction come to a hault on that one too.
The old howard johnson resturant
The old carousel. my mom used to let me ride the horses on the carousel and she would buy me rings cause there was a ring toss. the goal was to get the ring on the hook or in the slot while going in circles on the carousel. i miss the creepy music that thing used to play. where the boards are placed on this building used to tand windows with medusa faces placed in the center of each of them .
The old metropolitan hotel built for the wealthy to stay but now houses all the homeless that had taken over asbury park. since this picture this building has been torn down but my friend axel grabbed me a few bricks from the rubble to keep the metro in my life always
Tilly my favorite creepy face from asbury, As you would drive into the boardwalk section of asbury this awesome guys face would greet you as he was painted on the side of the fun house. he holds a special place in my heart.
